About Sarah
I am an experienced integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and a registered Member of the BACP. I believe the relationship between counsellor and client is at the heart of meaningful therapy. I meet you where you are, building a trusting therapeutic relationship where you can feel genuinely heard, understood and accepted.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to you, recognising that no two people or experiences are the same.
My work is informed by both professional expertise and lived experience. As someone living with a long-term chronic illness, as well as a chronic illness that developed following COVID-19, I understand many of the challenges that can accompany changes in health, identity, relationships, work and everyday life.
While no two experiences are the same, I offer a space where you won't need to explain or justify the reality of living with long-term illness before we begin our work together.
Together, we can explore the emotional impact of chronic illness, including grief, uncertainty, changes in identity, relationships, work or the future, helping you find ways to navigate these challenges in a way that feels right for you.
Whether you are living with Long COVID, ME/CFS, another chronic illness, or caring for someone who is, I offer a warm, confidential and compassionate space where your experiences will be met with understanding and respect.
Sarah‘s interest in supporting people with chronic illness
My interest in supporting people living with chronic illness comes from both professional experience and personal understanding. I live with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), which causes chronic fatigue, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). Living with chronic illness has given me first-hand insight into the uncertainty, loss, isolation and changes in identity that can accompany long-term health conditions.
I also understand how exhausting it can be to repeatedly explain your symptoms, advocate for yourself, or feel that your experiences are questioned or misunderstood. Many people living with chronic illness encounter stigma or medical gaslighting, leaving them feeling unheard and alone. While every person’s experience is different, I recognise the emotional impact this can have and strive to offer a therapeutic relationship where your experiences are listened to with curiosity, compassion and respect.
As an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I combine this lived experience with professional knowledge, recognising that chronic illness affects far more than physical health. It can influence relationships, work, confidence, independence, and hopes for the future. Together, we can explore these challenges at a pace that feels right for you, working towards finding ways to live meaningfully alongside illness rather than feeling defined by it.
Disability inclusion / adaptations
I offer online appointments for clients who need accessible sessions.
If you feel too unwell to attend in person, but usually have in-person sessions, I am also happy to switch a session to an online appointment to enable you to still have your session.
