Chronic Living Therapy Directory

These Directory Subscription Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the agreement between the subscriber (“Therapist”, “you”, “your”) and Chronic Living Therapy Directory, a business trading as Chronic Living Therapy and operated by Elisabeth Klaar as a sole trader (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By purchasing or renewing a subscription to be listed on the Chronic Living Therapy Directory website (“Directory”), you agree to these Terms.


1. About the Directory

The Chronic Living Therapy Directory is an online directory intended to help individuals living with chronic illnesses, including but not limited to ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia and POTS, identify therapists who may offer informed and appropriate therapeutic support.

The Directory is founded upon a published Statement of Principles available here:

Statement of Principles

All Therapists listed within the Directory are required to agree to and uphold these principles.

The Directory operates solely as a directory and referral platform. Chronic Living Therapy does not provide therapy, medical treatment, healthcare or clinical services.


2. Eligibility for Listing

To be eligible for inclusion in the Directory, you must:

2.1 Professional Registration

Maintain current registration, accreditation or membership in good standing with at least one of the following professional bodies:

  • British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies
  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Health and Care Professions Council

You must ensure your registration or membership remains current throughout your subscription period.

2.2 Agreement with Statement of Principles

You must agree to and uphold the Directory’s Statement of Principles throughout your listing.

2.3 Accurate Information

You must provide accurate, truthful and up-to-date information regarding:

  • qualifications;
  • professional registrations;
  • experience;
  • profile content;
  • contact details;
  • therapeutic services offered.

3. Therapist Responsibilities

By subscribing to the Directory, you agree that you shall:

  • maintain appropriate professional indemnity insurance where required by your profession or regulator;
  • comply with applicable professional, ethical and legal obligations;
  • practise only within the limits of your competence and training;
  • ensure your profile remains accurate and current;
  • promptly notify us of any material change to your professional registration, insurance, disciplinary status or professional standing.

You must not:

  • make false, misleading or unsubstantiated claims regarding therapeutic outcomes, qualifications, expertise or medical matters;
  • publish defamatory, discriminatory or inappropriate material;
  • misrepresent your professional status or regulatory standing;
  • use the Directory in any unlawful or unethical manner.

4. Intellectual Property and Content

You retain ownership of materials submitted for your profile.

By submitting materials to the Directory, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to publish, display and use such content for the purposes of operating and promoting the Directory.

You warrant that:

  • you own or have permission to use all photographs, images and written materials submitted;
  • submitted materials do not infringe third-party rights.

5. Subscription Term and Fees

Subscriptions are provided for a period of twelve (12) months from the date payment is received unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Subscription fees are payable in advance and are generally non-refundable except where required by law.

Failure to make payment may result in suspension or removal of your listing.

We reserve the right to amend subscription fees for future subscription periods.


6. Right to Refuse, Suspend or Remove Listings

We reserve the absolute right, at our sole discretion, to refuse, suspend or remove any listing where we reasonably consider that:

  • eligibility requirements are no longer met;
  • the Therapist has failed to uphold the Statement of Principles;
  • safeguarding concerns arise;
  • serious complaints are received;
  • the Therapist becomes subject to professional disciplinary proceedings or sanctions;
  • profile content is misleading, inappropriate or harmful;
  • the Therapist’s conduct may adversely affect the integrity, reputation or aims of the Directory;
  • the Therapist is otherwise considered unsuitable for inclusion.

We may temporarily suspend a listing while concerns or complaints are reviewed.

Where reasonably appropriate, we may seek clarification before removal, but we are not obliged to do so.

Removal or suspension does not automatically entitle the Therapist to a refund.


7. No Guarantee of Referrals or Endorsement

Inclusion within the Directory does not guarantee referrals, enquiries, clients, income or visibility.

Inclusion does not constitute medical, clinical or professional endorsement by Chronic Living Therapy.

Therapists listed within the Directory may hold differing professional perspectives and therapeutic approaches. Responsibility for professional opinions and clinical practice rests solely with the individual Therapist.


8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for:

  • loss of income, business or reputation;
  • indirect or consequential losses;
  • disputes between Therapists and clients;
  • reliance placed upon Directory listings;
  • interruption or unavailability of the website.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.


9. Data Protection and Privacy

We process personal information in accordance with applicable UK data protection law and our Privacy Policy.

Therapists acknowledge that:

  • website enquiries may contain sensitive personal information;
  • messages submitted through the website may be stored within website systems;
  • authorised administrators and technical support providers may potentially access such messages where operationally necessary.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may amend these Terms from time to time.

Updated Terms may apply upon renewal or earlier where necessary for operational, safeguarding or legal reasons.


11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

In order to be listed on the Directory, all Therapists must agree to and conduct their professional practice consistently with these principles.


2. Eligibility for Listing

To be eligible for inclusion in the Directory, you must:

2.1 Professional Registration

Maintain current membership, accreditation or registration with at least one of the following professional bodies:

  • British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (“BABCP”)
  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (“BACP”)
  • Health and Care Professions Council (“HCPC”)

You must ensure that your registration, accreditation or membership remains valid and in good standing throughout the duration of your subscription.

2.2 Compliance with Principles

You must agree to and uphold the Directory’s Statement of Principles at all times while listed.

2.3 Accurate Information

You must provide truthful, accurate and up-to-date information for your profile, qualifications, professional memberships and contact details.


3. Subscription Term

Subscriptions are provided for a period of twelve (12) months from the date payment is received unless otherwise agreed in writing.

At the end of the subscription period, your listing may be renewed subject to payment and continued eligibility.


4. Fees and Payments

Subscription fees are payable in advance and are non-refundable except where required by law.

Failure to make payment may result in suspension or removal of your listing.

We reserve the right to change subscription fees for future subscription periods.


5. Therapist Responsibilities

By subscribing to the Directory, you agree that you shall:

  • maintain appropriate professional insurance where required by your profession or regulator;
  • comply with all applicable professional, ethical and legal obligations;
  • practise within the limits of your training, competence and professional accreditation;
  • ensure that all information displayed on your profile remains accurate and current;
  • promptly notify us if your professional registration, accreditation, insurance or disciplinary status changes.

6. Right to Refuse, Suspend or Remove Listings

We reserve the absolute right, at our sole discretion, to refuse, suspend or remove any listing where we consider that:

  • the Therapist no longer meets the eligibility requirements;
  • the Therapist has failed to uphold the Statement of Principles;
  • the Therapist’s conduct may adversely affect the reputation, integrity or aims of the Directory;
  • the Therapist is subject to professional disciplinary findings or regulatory sanctions;
  • the Therapist’s approach or conduct is, in our reasonable opinion, inappropriate for inclusion on the Directory.

Where reasonably possible, we will normally seek to discuss concerns before removal, but we are not obliged to do so.

Removal from the Directory does not entitle the Therapist to any refund unless required by law.


7. No Guarantee of Referrals

Inclusion within the Directory does not guarantee referrals, enquiries, clients, income or any minimum level of visibility.

We do not endorse or guarantee the services of any Therapist listed.


8. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of the information and materials you submit for your profile.

By submitting content to the Directory, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to publish, display and use that content for the purposes of operating and promoting the Directory.

You confirm that you have the right to use any materials or images you provide.


9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for:

  • any loss of income, business or reputation;
  • any indirect or consequential losses;
  • disputes between Therapists and clients;
  • reliance placed upon information contained within Directory listings.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability which cannot lawfully be excluded under English law.


10. Data Protection and Privacy

We will process personal data in accordance with applicable UK data protection law and our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for ensuring that any personal data you provide for publication is lawful to share.


11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

Updated Terms will apply upon renewal of your subscription or earlier where required for legal, operational or safeguarding reasons.
