These Website User Terms and Disclaimer (“Terms”) govern your use of the Chronic Living Therapy Directory website (“Directory”, “website”).
The Directory is operated by Chronic Living Therapy, a business trading as Chronic Living Therapy and operated by Elisabeth Klaar as a sole trader (“we”, “us”, “our”).
By using this website, you agree to these Terms.
1. Purpose of the Directory
The Directory is intended to help individuals living with chronic illnesses, including but not limited to ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia and POTS, identify therapists who may offer informed therapeutic support.
We aim to include therapists who demonstrate awareness of current biomedical and related understandings of chronic illness and who agree to the Directory’s published Statement of Principles.
However:
- inclusion within the Directory does not constitute medical, clinical or professional endorsement;
- we cannot guarantee the quality, suitability or effectiveness of any therapist;
- therapists remain individually responsible for their own professional opinions and clinical work.
The Directory operates solely as a directory and referral platform and does not provide therapy, healthcare or clinical services.
2. No Clinical or Professional Guarantee
While we take reasonable steps to review therapists before inclusion, we cannot guarantee:
- that a therapist’s knowledge remains fully up to date;
- that a therapist will be appropriate for your needs;
- the quality or outcome of therapeutic work;
- compatibility between therapist and client.
Any decision to engage a therapist is your own responsibility.
3. Your Responsibilities as a User
Before engaging a therapist, you should:
- read profiles carefully and in full;
- ask questions regarding experience, training and therapeutic approach;
- discuss your individual needs directly with the therapist;
- satisfy yourself that the therapist is suitable for your circumstances.
The therapeutic relationship exists solely between you and the therapist.
We are not responsible for therapy, advice, treatment or services provided by listed therapists.
4. Professional Registration and Complaints
Therapists listed within the Directory are expected to maintain membership, accreditation or registration with recognised professional bodies including:
- British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies
- British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
- Health and Care Professions Council
Concerns regarding a therapist’s conduct or professional practice should generally be directed to the therapist’s relevant professional or regulatory body.
5. Crisis and Emergency Support
The Directory is not an emergency or crisis support service.
Therapists listed within the Directory may not be continuously available and may not respond immediately to enquiries.
If you are in crisis, feel unable to keep yourself safe, or require urgent medical or mental health support, you should contact emergency services, your GP, NHS 111, Samaritans or other appropriate emergency support services immediately.
