What is Chronic Living Therapy?
A directory to help you find therapists who understand your health condition
The therapists who will feature on this website acknowledge the biomedical nature of conditions such as M.E., Long Covid and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (for example). They want to offer support to people as they manage their lives with these conditions.
They fully accept that psychological support is not a treatment or cure. However, they hope it can alleviate the potential emotional difficulties that affect people facing long term health problems.
They will have an understanding of how hard it may have been for people to be believed by medical professionals. They will know how undermining of confidence this can be.
Shining a light on excellent therapists
We want to highlight excellent therapists who have informed themselves about these conditions and ensured their way of supporting people is in line with the best biomedical research. These therapists often swim against the tide themselves. They deserve encouragement and support: we are delighted to be able to feature them here.
Future plans for training
In the medium term Chronic Living Therapy aims to create training for therapists to help them develop the new skills. This training will focus on skills needed to support patients and their loved ones to cope.
